WMD in Syria?

Under the title

Orwellian Ramifications Begin To Unfold In Syria

Dr. Ismail Salami writes in Countercurrents the following (excerpt):

There is a horrible speculation that the insurgents in Syria may have seized hold of chemical weapons.

Apart from the catastrophically unthinkable havoc the rebels can wreak in Syria and in the region with the WMD, the rhetorical question which remains is how these weapons of mass destruction have fallen into the hands of the insurgents who are chiefly composed of Wahhabi al-Qaeda mercenaries of different nationalities including Afghans, Iraqis, Turkish, Yemenis, Jordanians, Pakistanis, and Saudis.

The situation in Syria is assuming Orwellian ramifications and the possibility to clearly understand or dissect the situation in the country is not an easy task.

In addition to the active role the Saudi-backed Wahhabis, CIA and some western intelligence organizations are playing in Syria , there is one entity, namely Israel which is stealthily espying every single development in Syria.

For the first time, an Israeli spy official clearly stated that Israel supports regime change in Syria and that it really demands an end to the government of President Bashar Assad.

I hope it will happen, even though I don’t know when or how,”

Intelligence Agencies Minister Dan Meridor said on Tuesday.

The top spy chief implicated why Assad should go and how it would damage the Islamic Republic of Iran.

I am not going to try to calculate when Assad’s end will come, but when it happens, Iran ‘s biggest ally will be gone.”

Taking it for granted that Assad is doomed to go, he said,

I hope the new Syria will understand that joining Iran is a mistake that brings isolation from the Western world.”

There are at least two deeply worrisome questions that arise from this report:
Is the presence of WMD in Syria real, and if so how did the “rebels” come into their possession and what is their provenance?
Is this a “leak” meant to establish that any planned future use of WMD against Syria or Iran will be blamed on their possession by “elements” associated with but not necessarily part of the Free Syrian Army?

Precedents are not reassuring. Weapons of mass destruction have been used recently in Iraq and Afghanistan and in both cases ample preparatory propaganda (Saddam Hussein’s famous and elusive WMD) has been beamed at the world.

Well at least you must be grateful that Israel took out the Syrian nuclear facilities, could have been much worse.

I am endlessly grateful for everything Israel has ever done to make the world safer and if I were to make a list I wouldn’t know where to begin, maybe just with USS Liberty. Those boys had to be “taken out” as you put it: that ship was up to no good and could have impeded Israel’s clean up action in Egypt.
What more do you want us to do to express our gratitude: $8 million/day in aid alone, another $70 billion approved by Obama recently, free hand with US weapons, cover at the UN, oil at 1960s prices and best of all waging war in the ME for Eretz israel. EW do all we can to show our gratitude.

Being in the IDF, cosmo, you must be familiar with the use of phosphorus bombs. What do you think: will they come in handy in Syria and if so should we send an extra check in advance for this additional expense for the security of Israel?

i think cosmo was indulging in a little irony, Adriana.

Cosmo’s rusty “irony” would be better well received if she kept to her word and it were accompanied with the promised photo with aforementioned card, eh Cosmo?

Hey Cosmo, a few questions for ya. Seriously, for me, going by your pic you seem to carry a deep sadness in your eyes. Are you happy with your life? If not, what would you change to make it better? Do any of your friends know that you come on deLib? Please be honest like you was with your photo.

You think he will answer you after that mean picture #1?

      • fool me once... August 10, 2012 at 11:43 pm #

I hope so as the “mean picture” I found was merely a jest to ease the tension, so as to aid the unloading of Cosmo’s burden – don’t ya feel it? Can you sense that reaching out??
Come on Cos’, prove AT wrong, speak up and let it out.

A jest? Picture #1 is a jest like calling an amputee “Legs” is a jest …
Do you think he did not see the number ‘4’ in that picture and sounded it out? Meeeeeeaaaaaan! :-)

        • fool me once... August 11, 2012 at 4:14 pm #

“A jest?” yeah, but in an inclusive way. A kind of acknowledgement of his affliction, yet joking in such a way so as not to reject. Point proven by his self-effacing ben gurion links above. As long as he just keeps it clean and doesn’t polish, then there shouldn’t be any problems.
“Picture #1 is a jest like calling an amputee “Legs” is a jest …”
Surely, calling an amputee Legs is a lot more cheery than calling them a low down bum! I guess it’s all about intention though. ;)
Anyway, going by this blog link Cosmo’s Mekon look may betray his political ambitions.

Not sure, but if you search on google for “goysahoy blog comments” then click the first result “The Goy’s Guide to israel 2nd march 2010″, there are interesting blogs with comments.

LOL have you been watching Israeli comedies?
I would be very suprised if any of my friends was even aware of the existance of Deliberation.
