"the US has long banned all trade with the anti-Israel party, so it was not immediately clear what effect fresh sanctions would have."

EXACTLY!
I think that when the Israeli ambassador saw Obama recently he must have kicked him hard in the shins: DO something! And that's all he could think f doing.
What's wrong with that? Doesn't Nasrallah deserve to laugh once in a while?

The United States denounced the Lebanese political
party Hezbollah for backing Bashar al-Assad on Friday, and added it to a list of organizations under sanctions for their ties to the Syrian regime.

"This action highlights Hezbollah's activities within Syria and its integral role in the continued violence the Assad regime is inflicting on the Syrian population," the US Treasury Department said in a statement.
Hezbollah has been providing training, advice and extensive logistical support to the government of Syria, the statement added.
Hezbollah, an ally of the Syrian regime, has denied any direct involvement in the crackdown on an armed uprising against Assad.
The Treasury Department's actions will freeze any assets Hezbollah may have under US jurisdiction and prohibit Americans and US companies from dealing with them.
But the US has long banned all trade with the anti-Israel party, so it was not immediately clear what effect fresh sanctions would have.
The Treasury's Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence David Cohen suggested the move was largely symbolic, linking Hezbollah to Assad.
"Long after the Assad regime is gone, the people of Syria and the entire global community will remember that Hezbollah, and its patron Iran, contributed to the regime's murder of countless innocent Syrians," he said.
A Hezbollah spokesman declined to comment when contacted by Al-Akhbar.
Hezbollah is a leading party in the Lebanese government but it was not clear whether the sanctions would effect trade between the US government and Lebanon.
The State Department also announced sanctions on Syria's state-run oil company Sytrol for having provided gasoline to Iran.
"Though these sanctions are a direct result of Syria's provision of gasoline to Iran, the United States views Iran's broader support for the Assad regime as completely unjustifiable," department spokesman Patrick Ventrell said in a written statement.
Everything has advantages and disavantages, Anti-Syria sectarian rejoiced the defection of the Syrian PM, and considered it a sign of weakness.

Appointing Hijab, who is not close to Assad, confirms that Assad was serious and honest in calling opposition for dialogue.

The timing of the defection after the failed “Damascus Volcano and Syrian Earthquake” operation confirms that Hijab is involved in the Nato coup.

I guess, Nato, realized the grave result of destroying the Army and the state in Iraq, and are trying to change the regime without destroying the state in Syria.

Now we have an open war, Syria and its allies tried to avoid, and humans, in general don't like wars unless its forced on them.

WE LEARND FROM QURAN "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not." (Baqara 216) .

كتب عليكم القتال وهو كره لكم وعسى ان تكرهوا شيئا وهو خير لكم وعسى ان تحبوا شيئا وهو شر لكم والله يعلم وانتم لا تعلمون

LET US LOOK ON THE FULL PART OF THE CUP.

It is now black and white, and there is no more for other colors, its time for aa those standing on the fence to get down, to this side or that. Its a great oportunity for Baath party and Syrian in general to clean their ranck from traitors, opportunist and corrupted.

more information about riad hijab and some interesting speculation regarding the role he might have been groomed for in a post coup syria:

http://www.voltairenet.org/Syria-Exposed-Syrian-Prime

Feeling exposed, the President of the Syrian Council of Ministers, Riad Hijab, was exfiltrated by NATO to Lebanon on Sunday, August 5, 2012.

The head of the Free "Syrian" Army announced that Mr. Free Hijab had defected together with other ministers. However, Syrian television broadcast full-breadth images of the Cabinet meeting, chaired by Omar Ghalawanji, so that everyone could see that no one was missing. In addition, the Minister of Culture - whose name was cited by a news agency - made a televised statement addressing a separate issue, thereby putting an end to the rumors circulating in the Western press about him.

The betrayal of Riad Hijab is the first in importance since the beginning of the crisis. From Jordan, his spokesman, Hijab Otri Mohamed, said that his boss had already been working in secret to overthrow Bashar al-Assad long before he was appointed President of the Council of Ministers on 23 June.

At this stage of the investigation, everything would appear to indicate that the failed "Damascus Volcano and Syrian Earthquake" operation was supposed to be a military coup for which Riad Hijab would have provided a civilian cover. Washington and its allies believed that after the decapitation of the military command (attack of July 18), a number of generals and their regiments were going to seize power with the help of mercenaries from Jordan, to be then put in the hands of Mr. Hijab. The State Department would thus have applauded the victory of "democracy"."

“Israel and the Takfiri trend are the main things that threatens security and stability”

Sayyed Nasrallah feels sorry for the security developments around the regions strarting from Syria and ending with Iraq, Bahrain

“The number one threat for Israel in the world is Hezbollah”

“Israel feels comfortable in front of some Arab countries’ huge armies because the decision-making of these regimes is within the US”

“Before my birth and the existance of Hezbollah there were arms chos and civil wars”

“Before Hezbollah, were there a state?”

“It’s right, we have the deterrence weapons against Israel”

“Anarchy of arms exists where there is no resistance”

“We had the power to rule the country in May 7 but we didn’t want”

“I announce in the name of the Shia in Lebanon that we don’t want to be the ruling sect”

“Some in Lebanon want two things: to hand over our arms and the government”

"His spokesman, Mohammed el-Etri, added that the defection "was not a matter of days or weeks, it was in the pipeline for two continuous months through a trusted cell close to the prime minister made up of rebels."

so he was already a bought and paid for agent clandestinely working for the zionazis before becoming pm. jp sure loves to gloat about how they can corrupt people and get them to support all sorts of war crimes and betrayals. it seems to be a special matter of pride to them that they are able to do this.
