In Postmodernism, there is a new possibility of seeing more than black and white. It is a step up from modernism; things are now more subjective rather than objective. It leaves room for artists to construct freely with a new spirit as they seek for more than just black and white and try to find a gray area. As the comic says below, no longer is there one objective reality, rather one can construct their own truth. The self is now seen in a work of art or literature. Chaos is welcomed and anarchy is portrayed. It is mocking with a self awareness. The man in this comic makes clear to this little boy that there is no absolute truth. Just because he is stepping on his neck does not mean that is the only truth that can be found in his action. He says no, you’re trying to trip me with your neck. Nothing is concrete and objective, everything is left up for interpretation and ones own reality. Postmodernism came after the traumatic World War II so this new form of thinking with art, literature, philosophy, etc. can be seen as a world that has experience anarchy and chaos and is displaying it in their new wave of thinking.
