(1) the question is: when will the Western powers led by the US, the Arab states, Turkey and Israel take the necessary and credible steps to force Tehran to stop meddling in Syria’s internal affairs and prevent it from playing a direct role in an effort to quell the Syrian uprising?

(2) Iran knows that the Western powers and Israel, along with Turkey and the Arab states, would like to pull Syria outside of Iran’s orbit. To persuade Iran that its continuing involvement in Syria is short-lived, the US, the Arab League (AL), the EU and Turkey must work in concert and adopt coercive measures to demonstrate to the Iranian mullahs that this is a no-win situation and that their continued involvement could be disastrous for the regime.

to my, admittedly very naive, view, there seems to be a faint whiff of hypocrisy here. the writer would not acknowledge it as such, because of the partisan view he takes. the US, with propaganda, financial and perhaps physical support from the usual suspects, is entirely in the right to ‘take coercive steps’, but this is in no way ‘meddling’.

i do not entirely blame the author, as he merely articulates the standard ‘Western’ line. this sticky and foul-smelling goo is smeared all over every speech squeezed from the constricted throat of the despicable lackey William Hague of the UK government, just as it insidiously corrupts every word uttered by the demonic liar, Blair.

but it is hypocrisy nonetheless, and it is war-mongering. this from a foreign national with a nice sinecure in an American University. there is something rotten in the state of ‘Western’ intellectual life. a disregard for truth and balance might be fitting in a paid war propagandist, but is very out of place in an institution which takes responsibility for teaching young people.

interesting. there is a pre-revolution 60 minutes show where that shah is interviewed. some of what he said wasn’t exactly flattering to “the jews”. he probably did what many other quislings, the american fascists and jp have worked together to set up in power, have done – he got a little too ambitious and independent of master. having it backfire on them that time must have hurt.

I was listening to The Mask of Zion Report for August 9th and Jonathan Azaziah relates that the 1979 Iranian Revolution started out as a “color” coup the Shah of Iran who was becoming increasingly disillusion with the USA and Israel — Zionism in general and was making is discontent publicly known.

The original plan was to start a “student revolt” in order to replace the Shah. But that plan backfired and the disruption permitted a real revolution in Iran that brought in Khomeini and ever since the West has been “at war” with Iran.
