In this this debate two rabid Zionist enthusiasts (Jeremy Ben Ami and Alan Dershowitz) who openly support the existence of the ‘Jews only State’, pretend to disagree on some minor issues.
Interestingly enough, neither Ben Ami nor Dershowitz happen to be concerned with ethical or moral issues. They are largely interested in the image of Israel and its impact on American Jews.
I would really like to know how many American Jews support Israel becoming a ‘State of its citizens’. How many American Jews support the Palestinian right of return*? Is there any Jewish progressive organisation committed to universal ethical thinking?
* As far as I am aware even the IJAN (international ‘Jews only’ Anti-zionist network) seems to adhere to the concept of the Right of Return, yet fails to specify whether it supports the return of the Palestinians to their land, homes, villages and cities. Is it also possible that like left Zionists, IJAN also supports the return of Palestinian refugees to the future Palestinian State?

Same old, same old. Blah, blah, blah……
The politics of stalling, throwing sand, magic dust in people’s eyes to keep them in a zombie like state.
Let naive and ignorant goyim believe that we care for peace and solving the Palestinian “problem”.
Let Jewish public believe that we Jews are good and honest people, and we wholeheartdly want this problem resolved.
Of course on our terms.
We have to take care of “our” people, because no one else will. It is of course all Palestinians fault. We tried and we try soooooooooooo hard, and they didn’t and don’t appreciate it.
Thank you for all the applause.
In the meantime,as we speak, that’s what we do in Israel to stimulate a “peace” process.

“Peace process”????
What kind of “peace process” are we talking about??
Between wolves and lambs??
……….
“As of this writing, the last response belongs to Amitai Ben-Abba:
’200 comments, most calling for IDF soldiers to kill children. Congratulations, you’re a light unto the nations.’
And so you have it: A day of celebrating the ‘victory’ and ‘reunification’ of the holy city of Jerusalem.”

“pretend to disagree on some minor issues”
I am not so sure, Gilad. They are fighting over some major issues, not small stuff like Palestinian rights (on which they agree in depth if not in details).
The important issue is whether J Street should be invited at the big and lavish table of the Board of Directors of the ZPC whose chairman is AIPAC, and where the likes of the dersh have been gorging themselves for a while.
J Street is making a not-so-subtle case that they already have a niche market — the young and “progressive” “anti-settlement” slicker ones who perhaps find the dershes a bit shrill, so why not issue them some stock?
The dersh is all sharp elbows and won’t concede…

I believe that it could be a major debate if j Street has a drop of integrity in its system.. it seems to me as if the 2 man in the yarmulkahs are going out of their way to appease the crowd. Dershowitz lies as usual, but Ben Ami is pushed to the corner and feel committed to adhere his affinity to the tribe and its interests.

…
precisely.
J Street is a “softer”, more hippy, more digestable version of a somewhat rusty, used -up, hard-core Dersh-like model.

J Street is there to catch the few American elected politicians who escape AIPAC… so simple,,

Yes, but not American politicians, they have no desire to escape. What, escape fat campaign donations?
I think you are right that J Street is designed to catch potential escapees but those are the younger generation of Jews, educated, ‘embarrassable,’ possibly those even in danger of being assimilated.
J Street offers something more…. shall we say defensible and credible, unlike the dersh camp, which has a significant cringe factor.

this is a rather clever idea:

surely there must be a way to adapt a similar application of the idea to the more famous zionist spokespeople, such as ami, dershowitz, horowitz, dipshitz, etc.? length of time they’ve been around pumping out ziofascist hasbara by the number of media appearances, perhaps?

Here is a wonderful case study of a Jew who is desperate to be “persecuted” so he can broadcast it to the world.

I find it very funny. Maybe I shouldn’t.
The audience at the pro-Palestinian meeting showed incredible restraint.

In the meantime it was regular work week for the busy Israelis:
PCHR Weekly Report: 6 wounded, 30 abducted in 90 Israeli incursions this week
IMEMC – In its Weekly Report On Israeli Human Rights Violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territories for the week of 17– 23 May 2012, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) found that 4 non-violent protesters were wounded, and 30 Palestinians were abducted, including 12 children, by Israeli forces in the past week.
