Thanks for mentioning it, Jon, because it made me go back and re-read the whole thread.
I found it exceptional in many ways. Perhaps no other thread shed more light on the participants’ stands and points of view and now, with a bit of perspective, even more revealing than at the time.

that’s sad about gilad and paul not wanting comments. one of the things that makes the world wide web is it opens up communication between people who never really had an opportunity to exchange before. the old model of journalism, where those with the money and strings get to polemicise a captive audience, is being replaced by an interactive sort where the audience is now an active participant.

I think Khalid makes it clear how he was prepared to pressure Gilad to take action to censor any POV that Khalid disagreed with - and in the end all his predictions proved to be wrong, as it was Khalid, Laura and Gilad who left. Paul never communicated his reasons for leaving afaik.

My pleasure etominusipi.
As regards GA, i was not joking. He was not keen on the comments and did not want them from the beginning. He was ok with them whilst they were pro his views. But as soon as they started to criticism mounted he went off them. The rot set in on the “BDS and Integrity thread” and went rapidly downhill.

Myself and Roy were pro the comments but PE and GA considered it to be beneath them and “lame”.

TBH I don’t think they understood the humour or anarchic self regulating approach we have.

What’s VT?
I may have missed it somewhere but an explanation to people who have supported him would have been good, maybe he did by email?! For me it does leave a few questions. Coupled with Paul going at the same time I wondered if they both felt the site was going down a route of “jew hate”, so grabbed their bundles and went where they had more control. That’s not meant as a judgement, just a thought.
It does seem less jew centric on the site now though.
