The Disgusting Attacks on Gunter Grass

Gunter Grass

The German writer Gunter Grass (The Tin Drum) had already predicted the response to his poem in SdZ. There is no reason to be surprised, but there is every reason to be disgusted. Within Germany both the elite and a layer of the population by their words and actions appear to have accepted the disgraceful Goldhagen thesis whereby all German were guilty for the crimes of the Third Reich. This thesis has now been developed further: all Germans are guilty for eternity for the crimes of the Third Reich.

Behind this thinking is the Zionist and Zionophile argument that the crime against the Jews of Europe was unique in the annals of history. This was true as far as the method of extermination was concerned, but not in any other way. The  Belgians massacred the Congolese in greater numbers: over 10 million according to the historian Adam Hochschild. The killing of Armenians during the First World War was systematic and we could go on and discuss the nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but comparing one massacre or genocide to another is a futile exercise. Raul Hilberg the most authoritative historian of the Judeocide was angered by the uses that were being made of that crime today.

Some members of the extreme-right government and Lieberman in particular, that rules Israel today have used proto-fascist language against the Palestinian Arabs. Are we not allowed to point that out? That the Israeli government pushed the Bush administration to make war on Iraq is hardly a secret. Nor is the statement of the Israeli Ambassador to the US the day after the fall of Baghdad: “Don’t stop. Move on to Damascus and Teheran.’  Are we not allowed to rebuke him? The targeting and killing of young Palestinians in Gaza and elsewhere is fine, is it?

Gunter Grass was very mild in his criticisms. He concentrated on Israeli warmongering in relation to Iran. He could have said a lot more. The fact that it needs political courage to say even what he did in Germany or France is a sad reflection  on the political culture of both these countries. As for the attacks on Grass for his wartime activities, these are beneath contempt. The Israelis were delighted when the former Italian minister, Gianfranco Fini, whose party is in lineal descent from Mussolini, went to Israel and praised the Wall. He was forgiven his party’s past. So the past only matters if a person is critical of Israel. The former Nazis in various positions in the postwar Federal republic who pushed through reparations and backed Israel, they were never criticized either.

German citizens should ponder the following: it was not the Palestinians who were responsible for the murder of millions of Jews during the Second World War. Yet they, the Palestinians, have become the indirect victims of the Judeocide. Those to whom evil is done, do evil in return to others. So why no sympathy for the Palestinians?

    Excellent article.
Former Nazi’s, who bow in front of Israel and dare not to criticise its Nazi-like politics are automatically forgiven.
Those, who dare to opposse the Almighty Israel are doomed to be called the worst possible names etc.
Israel is surely walking proudly on its way to anger the whole world against him.
Israel doesn’t care because it feels like it has Samson’s Option hidden in its deserted sleeve.
Israel’s collective madness is now more and more trasparent, and for the whole world to see.
The problem is that the world became insane as well to a degree.
Are the few, leftover sane ones will be able to save the world from the major destruction that is hidden behind the corner, ready to attack and destroy??
I don’t know. I would like to think so , I hope so, but my inner gut feeling, unfortunately, doesn’t support my flimsy hope.

    Follow the money.

      Speaking of money….
Israeli studies have shown that the post-traumatic stress syndrome induced by the holocaust is trickling down even to even to the grandchildren…
Germany should cough up some more money, it seems:

Needless to say, if those children are emotionally disturbed there is no possible other cause, certainly not being raised in an atmosphere of paranoid fear, racism, xenophobia, nothing of the kind, that is the kind of falsehood an anti-semite would bring up.
It think it is the perfect time to ask Germany for more reparations: they should feel guilty about the ugly episode of anti-semitism of Grass.
In fact, it is deplorable that the Israelis should be in a position to ask when as whatshisname said so well “It is my right!”

Dr Rath’s call to German people and basically to the whole world, to all people of Good Will.

Unfortunately Dr. Rath doesn’t know what he is talking about. The facts contradict what he says. He is repeating what he heard as a child after the victorious allies ripped up Germany’s history books, wrote new books blaming everything on Germany and vetted the teachers that would be teaching the German schoolchildren so they would teach that the allies and Jews were all innocent and every last German was guilty for everything.

WW I started when a Serbian terrorist murdered the Austrian Archduke Ferdinand II and his wife in Sarajevo. Germany was drawn into the war thru an alliance with Austria and when Austria declared war on tiny Serbia, Russia declared war on Austria. Germany didn’t declare war on France or Great Britain. Just as is WW II, both those countries declared war on Germany, making it a world war. How many countries have the USA, France and the UK started a war with since 1945, yet Germany did not then attack the aggressors?

Germany’s chemical industries were strong, as Germany was strong in all fields in those days. The British and French were jealous of their success (I’m beginning to sense that jealousy on their part again). Germany had more Nobel Prizes than any other country and the jealousy of their competitors is what caused WW I. WW II resulted from WW I and when Germany declared it would take the territories stolen from them back, the British, French and Americans declared that Germans had no rights whatsoever (there land and people would remain under foreign rule).

Benjamin Freedman (who is Jewish and was an American representative at the Versailles Treaty discussions) speaks of Zionism’s role in WW I and also mentions the jealousy of France, Britain and the USA of Germany’s success and this being central to the wars.

Since Europe has been completely emasculated as a result of WW I and II, I don’t see a third war between Europeans.
