I had no idea that scientists intended their research to be read, or even thought that it might be, or that there exist readers willing to subject themselves to such cruelty. As far as I know, research is written for the advancement of careers, with much less proofreading than occurs on deLiberation, and even less checking of methods or findings.

In general, research is verified, if at all, by practical application on unconsenting human subjects, not even necessarily in third world countries, as this excellent article bears out. Thanks for the honesty, for which your colleagues will surely also be grateful.

Self-conceit and blind vanity often push otherwise intelligent people to come out with idiotic explanations for things they simply cannot bear to admit they don’t know.
There is little excuse, however, even far back in the study of DNA to label any portion of the genome as “junk DNA.” It was known early on that some of it is vitally needed “punctuation” that separates sequences to make them “readable,” and even redundancy is not just random piling on of “reserves” but part of the masterful mechanism of growth and repair.
It is so breath-takingly beautiful as to give the lie to the saying “the devil is in the details.” It looks like God is.
