It is true also that Imam Khomeini said this when Iran was under attack and when Saddam Hussein -endowed with the mission to defeat the newly born Islamic Revolution- was launching his war against Iran carrying on his masters’ orders of US and Gulf countries who supplied him with money and the necessary weapons . Iran was targeted because of its radical stands namely the Palestinian stand when it closed the Israeli Embassy in Teheran and opened the embassy of Palestine while Arabs were rushing to engage in peace talks and negotiations .What Imam said does not work in this context where the Palestinians have lost the compass and are fighting for Israel in Syria . It is true that Arab rulers in general did not care about Palestine but this does not apply to President Bashshar al Assad who refused to negotiate or recognize and normalize with Israel, who hosted the HAMAS leadership and who supported fully and supplied with weapons and logistic help the armed Lebanese Resistance that defeated Israel and liberated the country, something that could not be done without Syria according to Sayyed Hassan Nasrullah . Another president to be praised for his pro Resistance stands is Lebanese president Emile Lahhoud who faced the fake cedars revolution who wanted to topple him and replace him by a US ally. We are discussing here the shift in HAMAS that is turning it into another PA and that is relinquishing the choice of armed struggles sending the Palestinians again astray to fight the wars of others ie: the sectarian war planned and designesd by US , Israel and their clientele instead of the armed struggle intent on liberating their homeland.

In fact, it was Imam Khomeini who said in 1980 that “road to al-Quds passes through Riyadh, Cairo and Baghdad”. What he meant was that Muslims and Palestinian cannot recover historical Palestine from the European Jewish occupiers unless they first get rid of the western puppet regimes in Riyadh, Cairo and Baghdad. While both Riyadh and Cairo are still under the boots of USrael – America dropped big axe on his feet by occupying Iraq and murdering Saddam Hussein. The road to Palestine can only pass by Al Quds. Your conclusion is correct but sadly they lack leadership; the Israelis have done a good job of killing them off or imprisoning any leaders worthy of the responsibility.
