Marine Le Pen and The French’s Front National are the big winners in the French elections yesterday. France’s Front National scored the best ever presidential campaign first-round result (18% of the votes).
As elsewhere in Europe, the French far right is dealing with matters other political parties prefer to avoid or shove under the carpet. Yesterday results proves that many French are primarily concerned with issues to do with immigration and ‘identity loss’. While the so called ‘far Right’ engages with these matters, the Left and the Centre parties perform an escapist attitude – they prefer to vet the discussion via different means such as political correctness and even legislation. The media, would also shy away from the subject and would prefer to gate-keep any attempt to deal with the ‘unpopular’ topic.
Le Pen’s victory is clearly an alarm call. As the financial turmoil starts to bite, it becomes clear that we are dealing with a ticking bomb. The way to defuse the situation is to launch a free and open discussion on maters to do with ‘belonging’, ‘identity’ and ‘culture’. The Left has been confused about it all for decades. European Left is riddled with contradiction, it would, for instance, support national movement around the world but never at home. The Left would adorably support Palestinian nationalism in Gaza and the West Bank but it would oppose similar English or French patriotism at home. How do we explain or justify such an unprincipled political attitude?
The Guardian refereed to Le Pen today as a ‘populist appeal’. It obviously missed the point once again. Le Pen is popular because she touches some (unpopular) issues no one else, (including the Guardian) dares to touch. It is in fact the Guardian and other media outlets that present a populist approach maintaining some delusional notions of correctness that appear to be detached from the reality in which we are living in.

G: I think a good paper should actually offer a critical vision of our so called ‘reality’. The Guardian and other UK outlets are interested in maintaining their hegemony. This is why we (deLiberation) are here.

guardian is following the tradition of journalism. they are duplicitous and repugnant. yes. but that is what journalism is. if one wants to look at it honestly. journalism began as propaganda, not as a description of what was happening. it still mostly is. there are decent journalists, maybe 1 out of 1000, but the purpose of journalism has been from inception to sway public opinion by any means available. i cringe every time a journalist is given the same credence a historian is. historians have their problems, but at least, the credo is something akin to impartial accuracy. most fall well short of this, but it’s a far cry from journalism, which sees itself as saying what you think will get people wanting what you want. advertising in false pretenses.
what i find about guardian, and similar pretentious establishment disinformation entities, so offensive is not that they are corporate tribal marketing crap, but that they pretend to be something better than that. they are rightwingers pretending to be left and are essentially toxins seeking to replace cures. these are charles mansons who want the rest of us to believe they are shakyamuni siddhārtha gautama.

i hope you guys didn’t offense at my blanket condemnation of journalism above. it was intended as a criticism of deliberation, but of the sort of journalism represented by guardian and its kind. while journalism started as an idea to sway public opinion and sell things, many journalists were and are decent people with integrity who did use the profession for honest purposes and even did the things the mythology of journalism says journalists do. the first section i was pointing out that what many believe journalism started as is a misconception, brought on mostly by less scrupulous elements in the profession itself, beating their own drum.

I fully agree. More and more people start to relise that the virtual/MSMedial reality is the fake one, the grossly manipulated one, the one that doesn’t serve regular people, but their hidden-behind-the-curtains Masters. The Power Elite.
MSMedia is proving everyday to be a major disgrace,a sell-out that functions on throwing the smoke screen, magic dust on its viewers needed to keep them ignorant and intellectually/morally impotent.
Obviously it takes two to tango,so people are not without a blame for blindly following their diabolical MSMedial Masters into their dellusional, false reality, which hasn’t too much to do with the actual, extremely disturbing and dangerous ,state of the matters.
MSMedia keeps avoiding serious issues because they do the job of a Whore-House.
They keep the public entertained with a sleazy , mind numbing “entertainment”, and dissect the news through the propaganda/politically correct lenses to the point that they lose any objective or truthful value.

the left inherited this from the right and in the usa, the left has not been much of a factor since it got coopted and killed off during the 1st half of the 20th century. and the right inherited this from the religious establishment, mostly christian in the usa, where most are indoctrinated to not think for themselves.

yes the whole question of racial, national, regional and ethnic identities needs a long-overdue airing – or, as someone might say, these identity-meme words, whose diversity of signification is matched only by the intensity and vituperative nature of many discussions which involve them, constitute a can of worms which is long overdue for opening and having the searchlight of humane reason gently shone into its dark and wriggling interior.

4 sure the whole politics of nationalism is forbidden. In Britain it is now seen as most unfashionable to wave the Union Jack. Aside from its associations with the crown flags and drums have never really been exciting to me. But what do people rally round to inspire them as symbols of collective identities.
I think it is often the myths of a country that form its identity politics. In Britain this leads us to the Arthurian tradition, Robin Hood and 007.
It would be wise that we discuss these things openly rather than let them be hijacked by more extreme factions. This may mean being critical of other cultures in the hope that we may resolve cultural conflicts.
Pretending they don’t exist, is not really an option and not really honest.

Agree, and Le Pen is popular because she is filling these cliches with simple political meanings.
The Left on the other hand, offers us to close our eyes and pray.

I agree. Human’s nature doesn’t tolerate vacuousness. A man has to believe in something and to sombody pay homage to.
Left managed to remove ( to some extent) , ridicule the concept of God. Many followers blindly accepted Left’s “neo-religion”dogmas of beliefs and Marx/Lenin/Mao etc. as a new Jesus’s/God’s figures.
What came out of it????
150-180 millions of innocent people biting the soil for ever. That’s what came out of this new “quasi-religion/sect” being put in practise. The left managed effectively to change people’s hearts, souls and minds.
AND THAT is actually much MORE dangerous than physical conquering ,( that took place in ex-Soviet countries).
Once you own somebody’s heart/mind/soul then you own evertyhing about them, and you may do with them whatever you want.
Personally, I think that we’ve been in the stage of a massive ,massive spiritual war for many, many years already. The West basicaly lost already. Except some small groups , many people turned their hearts around and blindly accepted the concepts of
God-less/demonical quasi-religion.
They’ve lost the battle in this aspect.
Some countries see it, and decided to return to look for a strenght and power in God.
The real one, not the left/liberal one.
They know that we are fighting a major spiritual war, and the only way of not losing is to RETURN to God.
I know for many it sounds alien ,but this is a truth. Simple, unaccepted by many ,yet nonetheless the Truth.
Here is one ,very powerful example of an event that happened in 1986 in Philipines. that got rid of the dictator Marcos.
Very interesting read and video.

They were in a rectory only 8 blocks from the blinding center of the nuclear flash. Although everyone within a mile radius perished, all survived and they attribute their survival to the Rosary and living the Fatima message.
At 2:45 a.m. on August 6, 1945, a B-29 bomber took off from the island of Tinian to drop the first atomic bomb on Japan. At 8:15 a.m. the bomb exploded eight city blocks from the Jesuit Church of Our Lady’s Assumption in Hiroshima. Half a million people were annihilated. However, the church and eight Jesuit fathers stationed there survived (four of the priests were Fathers Hugo Lassalle, Kleinsorge, Cieslik and Schiffer. Who knew about that??
“…They announced to fight to the death. They requested Cardinal Sin to support them. After an hour and a half of prayers in the chapel Cardinal Sin called on the Philippines’ people on the radio to come out to the streets and stand between the rebels and the approaching troops of the loyalists. The worshippers did obey the appeal. Two million people – the poor and the rich – appeared side by side in an avenue of Manila, holding rosaries in their hands. A major national religious service began and lasted for the next four days. There was prayer, Marian songs, while bishops and priests were conducting services at camp altars. Told so by Cardinal Sin, the religious sisters in three contemplative orders stayed ceaselessly vigilant, fasting and praying.
Twenty-five tanks and six thousand armed to the teeth ruthless professional troops were sent against the praying crowd. The two million people then knelt in the street facing the approaching tanks. They raised their rosaries and began to pray. And then something astounding happened – the tanks halted, and the military men began to join massively the praying people rather then to raid them. People approached the troops with flowers, gave them sandwiches, embraced them. Marcos was furious. He ordered to disperse the crowd with tear gas. When the gas containers were thrown into the crowd… the wind reversed unexpectedly and thus the aggressors had to flee. So was two hours later. An order was given to use mortars to shell Enrile. Initially the order was not obeyed since “no appropriate target had been found.” “We do not want to kill civilians” – explained the soldiers. After several hours of “seeking a target” the mortars were fired, but the shells appeared to be … blind. The crews of the task force helicopters sent to suppress the rebels … joined them instead. On February 25 Marcos fled to Hawaii. Corazon Aquino, the widow of Benigno, was elected new president…”

the “left” chooses to neuter itself because what is popularly called “the left” is called so because zionist jewish rightwingers who dominate the discourse want people to believe their zionist friendly caricature of the left is something approaching what leftwing philosophy is.
it’s not even close.
what the real left is about bears little resemblance to what, the fake left works tirelessly to prevent people finding out what the real left was, before jewish zionist tribalism buggered it.
the phony zionist-jewish tribalist-capitalist “left” has no interest in working out our various differences to make a better world. they want to exacerbate whatever differences they can find or create in order get more power and keep the rest of us disorganised, divided and fighting over trinkets, so the they can stay in power indefinitely. the difference between nazis and these people is that nazis are more straight forward about their pernicious domination goals. and ultimately failed because their crap was obvious. the jewish zionist learned from that and does everything but exhibit honesty about their fascist goals.

“I agree with that, but is it a coincidence that left discourse is dominated by “zionist jewish rightwingers”?”
no more a coincidence that the right is now dominated by zionist jews. these are intended outcomes of very concerted efforts by the zionist power configuration to gain dominant power.
“Is it a coincidence that the Kibutz social experiment that fascinated the Left in the 1960′s took place on Palestinian confiscated soil? I don’t think so.”
kibutzes are very late occuring in the history of the left and the idea did not originate with jews. look up the diggers of the 17th century. and they didn’t invent the idea either. kibutz is a borrowed, ancient idea that actually predates the existance of hebrew peoples by many millennium.
i do remember that fascination with kibutzes on the left back in the 60′s and 70′s. it was a swaying point to my own ill informed infatuation with the israel problem. i believed the zionist bs that israel was a left wing island in a reactionary sea. as i got more informed, i found out israel was the opposite of left wing and that it was right wing, and the worst right wing – fascist. i also found out the israeli people were probably the most intolerant and narrow minded people on the planet. the learning process took years as each realisation brought new questions. unlearning the kibutz myth of the jewish zionists was the first lesson. the whole spiel about israel being a left wing commune oriented society was nothing but bs marketed by jewish zionists who had more in common with fascists than anything even remotely relating to left wing philosophy and practice.
the left was not jewish in origin, neither were left wing basic principles. in fact, left wing philosophy is anathema to jewish culture, which is essentially right wing and mercantile. even marx’s work is not jewish in inspiration, as he rejected jewish religion and cultural ways of thinking outright (especially cultural). what aspects of jewish culture could possibly influence the man to adopt a communal ideal of human relations, given the near total lack of jewish background in communal philosophy ( there were examples of this, but in 1850, they were yet to be rediscovered by archaeological study).
“After all it is the same Left that still stop us from exploring the biggest 20th Shoa namely the holodomour..”
an exercise in propaganda every bit as much biased as that around the holocaust. the holocausters don’t want ordinary goys getting the same sympathy for their suffering at the hands of goys, as jews get. it lessons the effect of the propaganda model. all of these attempts to seek special recognition for the barbarity of ones foes are exercises in propaganda of “us=good guys vs them, the bad guys”. history and reality don’t work that way. every historical event has a myriad of influencing factors, simplifying what are essentially right wing attempts at dominance over people (in other words, those that own the wealth vs those who are essentially their slaves) to something as simple minded as holocaust or holodomor skews the reality to a marketing scheme serving those more interested in dividing people, who really don’t have any divisions, so they can be more easily dominated.
the people promoting the holodomor are the very same people zionists put in power in ukraine through a media and mossad/cia/mi6 orchestrated political coup. right wing fascists little different from the nazis. the zionist opposition to the holodomor recondition is a phony as their opposition to american fundy christian preachers spouting israel worship. they invented both.

I am just back from a trip to the UK. It was St George’s Day. When I was a kid there might be a Boy Scouts’ parade on SGD but that was it, whereas yesterday just about every street and every single pub was festooned with St Georges Crosses and Union Jacks.
Meanwhile in Scotland the ruling party is the Scottish Nationlist Party.
Plus, you cannot throw a brick in Britain without hitting some (often phony) “heritage” site.
So I don’t know where Jonathan Blakely gets this idea that nationalism is unfashionable. The opposite is the case.
It is much truer to say that the left has become embarrassed to talk about class. The centre-left are now as conservative as the Tories while the leninist left has abandoned the working class and embraced multiculturalism, gender politics, a patronising kind of “anti-racism” and all the liberal PC codswallop that goes with it.
It seems the only people who talk about the working class in Britain are the EDL and the BNP, and then it is always “the white working class”.
Outside a few small sects (who speak an impenetrable jargon, a kind of foreign language) what we have lost is:
- the tradition of internationalism and universalism in radical politics, the idea that the vast majority of the people have common interests, whatever their nationality, race, gender etc
- libertarianism (in the sense of freedom to say what you like, even it it upsets some people)
What we have today is a well-entrenched liberal elite who police discussion, especially on matters of race, culture and gender. It goes without saying that the ultimate sin in their eyes is to say anything the tiniest bit derogatory about Jews.
No wonder a lot of people vote for the far right in protest.

I agree that ‘the tradition of internationalism and universalism’ has been lost, but might there not be a reason for that? The statement that ‘the vast majority of people have common interests’ doesn’t make sense on its own. ‘Common interests’ in what? All people have some interests in common. Some people have some interests in common with some other people. Equally, there are conflicts of interests. What’s you point?
