On Board the Mavi Marmara – The Freedom Flotilla

The 31st of May 2012 was the second anniversary of the massacre that took place on board the Mavi Marmara. This documentary by David Segarra shows a lot of the background to the Palestine/Israeli conflict plus what happened on board the Mavi Marmara on which David was a passenger.

Personally I still find it hard to write or talk about what I witnessed on that day, so please forgive me for not writing about my own personal experience. I have to say though that myself and most of those who were participants in the Flotilla would take part again. Israel will never be able to kill, imprison or silence every voice that speaks against it’s actions. The truth will always prevail.

The will of Israel to silence the media and silence every dissenting voice is not restricted to the media on the Mavi Marmara or even just in Palestine and the Middle East, it is a reality in every country and it is very evident in the Zionised U.K. that “WE ARE ALL PALESTINIANS”.

Laura Stuart is a British revert to Islam who, just weeks after the “Cast Lead” massacre, travelled with the first Viva Palestina convoy to Gaza. There she witnessed both the horror of the assault and the resolve of the people and this encouraged her to join another Viva Palestina convoy arriving in Gaza in January 2010. In May 2010 Laura was on the Mavi Marmara where she tended the dying and wounded victims of the Israeli attack. In October 2010 she drove with the “Road to hope” convoy to Gaza only to be denied entry to Egypt as a "security risk" – apparently Laura was just that bit too active for Palestinian rights. Still banned from Egypt and, after the Freedom Flotilla, banned from Israel for ten years, Laura now makes Jihad by keyboard - writing about the injustice and oppression, not only of Palestinians but of all, especially Muslims, who suffer from Zionist/Neo Conservative aggression.
