Yehouda Shenhav’s new book, “Beyond the Two State Solution: A Jewish Political Essay” …. wants to restore awareness of 1948, but not to try to reconstruct the world of 1948.
He does not propose eliminating Israel. He does not propose uniting the people of Israel and Palestine into a single nation.
He does propose allowing Palestinians to return to their homes in a manner least disturbing to Israelis already living in those villages or buildings, including with compensation paid to residents evicted by an agreement with returning refugees. He proposes a bilingual society, with a fragmented political federation. He expects this to be very difficult, while preferable to any other approach. ”

i haven’t read the book and do not entend to read it . i don’t intend to read Amayreh’s book though i have written about him . Reading is something like hunger or taste . When you’re not hungry and you don’t have a taste for the food you don’t take it.

well, as you probably know, Zolly is no dogmatist, and has a truly wicked sense of humour. you might not know that he is not 100% Ashkenazi – a greatgrandmother on his mother’s side was sephardic, a well-known Portuguese concert pianist in the 1920′s – perhaps this explains his passion for Ladino music (an enthusiasm which he keeps well-hidden from the bloodthirsty Khazzer clique who have hijacked the Knesset and the IDF – Zol’s words, not mine). i got to know him, curiously, through our mutual appreciation of single malt whiskies. we first met at a weekend tasting seminar in Glenbogle a few days before the Lockerbie disaster. terrific chap.

Zolly doesn’t even know I sometimes post irreverent, naughty comments on Israel but I took his advice to heart. PayPal doesn’t know what color Ariadna’s money is.

i do not like to speak badly of people, but Mr A seems to suffer from the ‘public exhibitionist’ variant of egocentric/narcissistic personality disorder (ENPD) which makes its victims an extremely easy target for manipulation by the cynical.

ENPD is usually accompanied by a well-developed fantasy life (see also Walter Mitty Syndrome) so that the said Mr A may well see himself as a heroic defender of the oppressed, and therefore he is likely to regard those who share some of his avowed goals, but take a different point of view on strategy or tactics, as deadly foes, to be disavowed, censored, excommunicated, or, in extreme cases, boiled in oil.

I will state again that I have not read A’s book.
If I can borrow it from a library (so as to avoid buying it) I will, and I will do a proper review.
My comments are based on the summary of his ideas I was able to read in the glowingly positive reviews of and comments on it on the web, like on amazon.com where it is sold. It is reasonable to assume that positive reviews are less likely to distort the book’s message than any negative critique.
Furthermore the ideas are described without contradiction in all the reviews I have read so it si fair to assume that they are indeed the ideas espoused by A..

jp looks upon compromise by “the other” as a weakness to exploit. jp never actually really compromises, they slow down their rapacious impulses when this is advantageous to their goals. it may look like they are compromising, and that is the intention, but compromise to them is way to attain control by another means.

israel has already shown that any compromises made with this fascist, bigoted state are totally one sided affairs advantageous to israel.
