it is evident that the communist states were paranoid in their very essence, but it is also true that the creation and export of paranoia has been a major US industry for some time, which long ago set up branches in all major US poodle-states.

it functions on many levels. at the modest end of the scale you have indifferent local papers which delight in featuring burglary, rape, assaults and murder. this is ‘justified’ by the old hack maxim “good news don’t sell papers”. there are exceptions to this rule, like royal weddings or sporting victories. but they remain exceptions. this focus on crime keeps the folk in their homes glued to the MSM, and facilitates sales of security locks, CCTVs, burglar alarms etc.

Israel and the USA are both nations founded on elements of genocide and ethnic cleansing, of relatively recent vintage. is the dangerously high level of collective paranoia of USrael a psychic blowback from suppressed guilt?

The difference between the Jim Jones cult and the US/Israel is that in the former the paranoia was fully shared by the leader. It is not at all plausible that is the case with the latter (see the Bush family bed sharing with the Bin Ladens, one among myriads of examples).
The author of this article points out what needs a lot more emphasis:
“As soon as both sides in the cold war relaxed, the U.S. started its moves to create paranoia through its threatening activities.”
This CREATED paranoia, affecting Americans and Israelis, is not a like a bubonic plague that suddenly appears and strikes at random. It is a more like a deliberate mass vaccination with an unattenuated virus, which the leaders do not inject into themselves.
