Last week saw the launch of an new initiative especially for Muslims. Somehow no one I have spoken to in my community has heard of this new initiative which is called “Tell MAMA“. So, who are they and what it is all about?
MAMA is a public service for measuring and monitoring anti-Muslim attacks. It is not meant to be a replacement for the Police Service. In an emergency, please call 999.
Indeed that sounds very interesting, there are plenty of attacks against Muslims I have been a victim myself, yet as most other Muslims I have not bothered to report anything to the police. It is fair therefore to say that there may be a need for such a service. But wait a minute surely that is the job of the police already?
I decided to have a look on the internet and see what I could find about “tell MAMA” I have to say that the name in itself is very unappealing and gives no indictation as to what it’s role might be. I have learned that it is always wise to “search for the truth” and find out who is behind the various organisations who purport to be helping Muslims.
The need to know who is funding lobby groups and organisations became clear to me last year when I attended the launch of an investigation by Spinwatch called “The Cold War On British Muslims“. It was quite a revelation to find that those who wish to promote the idea that Muslims in the U.K. are a terror threat and who want to advise the government on how to deal with Muslims are often funded by pro Israel organisations. It seems that those who have an interest in perpetuating the so called “War on Terror” and promoting the myth that Muslims are out to kill everyone or change their way of life, are the same people pushing for war in Iraq/Iran/Afghanistan/Pakistan/Yemen/Somalia and any place inhabited by Muslims, more commonly we know them by the title Zionist and Neo Con.
Tell MAMA is part of “Faith Matters” who has on it’s board of directors one Fiyaz Mughal. Their website makes interesting reading and they claim the following:-
Faith Matters is a not for profit organisation founded in 2005 which works to reduce extremism and interfaith and intra-faith tensions and we develop platforms for discourse and interaction between Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jewish and Hindu communities across the globe. We have offices in the United Kingdom, Pakistan and the Middle East (Jerusalem)
The words reducing extremism catch the eye of any Muslim who is aware of such organisations as The Quilliam Foundation“, C.E.N.T.R.I. and others. All seem to have similar agendas which on the face of it seem very reasonable after all who in their right mind supports violent attacks anywhere? We appear to have a trend in the U.K. of highly educated Muslims (usually Asian) who either through their lack of understanding of Islam or just for a blatant desire to earn money are suddenly elevated to positions of authority as advisors on Islam or Islamic extremism. These so called experts are all self proclaimed they were certainly not asked by the majority of Muslims to represent them. Many of them are extremists by the true meaning of the word as they have been self professed Islamic extremists and now work for the government. Hardly the profile of a stable or trustworthy human being.
Tell MAMA has a page on it’s website listing who their supporters are, this gives us an insight when we find such organisations as “Hope not Hate” and The Association of British Muslims . Hope not Hates activities to oppress the freedom of speech and freedom of expression in the U.K. have been exposed by myself and Gilad Atzmon before. A.O.B.M. claims to define British Islam, an expression which means absolutely nothing to followers of Islam because there is only one Islam, one Quran and Sunnah and so Muslims will follow the same religion in the same way whatever their cultural background or nationality. There is even no cohesive culture of Muslims in the U.K. since they come from so many different countries. As nationalism is not recognised in Islam Muslims always identify as Muslims first and foremost with tribal affiliations coming next. The Colonialist powers who carved up the Muslim lands into countries with borders must have had a fair idea of the potential for division and chaos they were causing when they did it, this is how divide and rule works.
Attending the launch of Tell MAMA was the Community Services Trust, an oganisation that monitors anti – semitic attacks in the U.K. and one that has become powerful enough to offer advice to the government on Muslims. Most notably C.S.T. was heavily involved in the recent wrongful arrest of Sheik Raed Salah where the Home Secretary acted on a doctored translation of a poem and where the government were found to have been in the wrong and having to pay compensation. It really does not augur well for Tell MAMA that C.S.T. were at the launch.
I found something amazing as I continued my search for who is Fiyaz Mughal, I found a post by him on the Islamophobia award winning zionist blog called Harry’s Place. Apparently Fiyaz Mughal has an organisation called “Muslims Against Anti Semitism” which would be great if it included attacks on the true Semites in Palestine by their wannabee Semitic occupiers! A further article congratulated Fiyaz Mughal on getting an O.B.E. Well, in the circles I move in which are a mixed bunch of humanitarian activists of all faiths and none, being congratulated by Harry’s place would be like the kiss of death to our creditibility, certainly it ruined any vestiges of authority that Tony Greenstein might have had on the Palestine discourse.
So to conclude, whilst anti Semitic and anti Muslim attacks are indeed a problem in the U.K. and we all wish to see a solution found for them, somehow I wonder how such organisations as C.S.T. will play a double role here of promoting Muslims as a threat on the one hand, and supposedly supporting initiatives against Islamophobia on the other.
The Prophet Mohammed p.b.u.h. told us to choose our friends carefully for they will influence us to do good or to do bad, for this reason I find it always very very enlightening and important to look at any initiative or organisation and find out just who runs and who funds them.
